Props for Photo Shoots

Hello friends! Welcome to the MKP blog. We’re glad you are here. Follow along to find out some great props for your next photo shoot! I’ve divided this into sections depending on what type of shoot you are having: maternity, engagement, family, newborn, and birthday.

First off, always think simple. Seasonal items do well with any shoot. Pumpkins and leaves are great for the fall. Wildflowers in spring, sunflowers in the summer. Snowflakes in the winter. Gingerbread cookies for Christmas shoots. First up is maternity shoots (click on the images for full files to see some props we've used in the past!)

Maternity Session
- blocks spelling baby’s name
- baby shoes
- sonogram pictures
-pink or blue balloons
- large patterned blanket
- wooden letter of baby’s initials

Engagement Photoshoot
- letter of new last name initial
- date of wedding on wooden board or chalk board
- large patterned blanket
- and (&) sign
- flowers that you’re using for wedding

Family Shoot
- bubbles
- family pet
- last name sign
- family vintage vehicle, tractor, etc.
- picture frame

Newborn & Baby Sessions
*disclaimer* make sure your photographer has done newborn before. Ask what props and pillows they already have.
- special blankets
- Boppy pillow (even if your photographer has one, it’s always good to have a backup)
- wedding rings
-special family items or themes (police and fireman and baseball)

Cake smash/birthday Shoots
- theme of birthday party
- favorite toys
- chalkboard of info about child
- party hats
- cupcakes or smash cake
- mirror
